On Jan. 14, 2009, SSC Pacific demonstrated a prototype Link-16 Multi-Net Receiver at the newly established Center of Excellence for Cryogenic Exploitation of RF (COE-CERF). The demonstration featured direct digitization of the entire 960- to 1215-MHz Link-16 band using a single superconductor analog-to-digital converter (ADC) chip, with all subsequent processing in the digital domain. SSC-Pacific’s Advanced Tactical Data Link (TDL) Concepts Group hosted the demonstration and was supported by Dr. Deep Gupta (HYPRES, Inc.), Dick Rodems (ViaSat, Inc.), and SSC Pacific’s GPS Navigation Systems Research and Development Group. The primary objective was to demonstrate the flexibility, scalability, and fidelity of digital processing of RF signals.
