    Mechanical Engineering Intern
    Responsibilities:

    • Assisting in the assembly of products, most of them highly advanced and precise cryogenic equipment and electronic instruments, based on instructions and assembly drawings (SOLIDWORKS)
    • Working with existing SOLIDWORKS designs to be able to extract information on assembly blocks and components
    • Placing machining orders for components with third parties
    • Checking received orders from third parties against the SOLIDWORKS drawings for manufacturing errors
    • Participating in various stages of product development, such as brainstorming, design modification and quality assurance testing
    • Providing general assistance around the electronics lab, assembly shop, machine shop and test facility

    Required Qualifications and Experience:

    • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or a minimum of five years’ relevant professional experience
    • Proficiency with using SOLIDWORKS
    • Ability to read/interpret sketches/drawings/3D models
    • Ability to produce sketches/drawings of ideas/concepts
    • Experience with physically assembling products or prototypes from parts as per instructions and/or assembly drawings using common work shop tools (e.g., wrenches, screwdrivers, hex keys, etc.)

    Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

    • Experience designing parts for and using a 3D printer
    • Experience in operation and maintenance of a CNC machine
    • Experience working with electronics and use of common electronics shop tools

    Senior Cryogenic System Engineer
    We will consider entry-level applicants for these two technical positions. All hirees will receive special training to perform the duties this job entails.

    Responsibilities:

    • Building cryogenic packages for integrated circuits
    • Providing project leadership within the engineering team
    • Assisting HYPRES staff as needed
    Desired Qualifications and Experience:

    • Master’s Degree or Ph.D in a relevant discipline (highly preferred)
    • Experience working on government-funded projects (highly preferred)
    • Experience writing engineering requirement documents, and defining/refining product value propositions (highly preferred)

    Senior Principal ASIC Design Engineer
    Responsibilities:

    Internship Opportunities
    HYPRES offers exciting opportunities for students interested in starting careers in the field of superconductor electronics design, fabrication, testing and cryogenic system integration.

    Interns work side by side with HYPRES scientists and engineers. Company officials work closely with the educational institute to ensure the students reach their goals, develop skills and acquire valuable experiences.     Hypres, Inc. seeks a Member of Technical Staff for its Elmsford, New York location.

    Duties (Multiple Openings): Designing integrated digital circuits based on Rapid Single Flux Quantum (RSFQ), Energy-efficient Rapid Single Flux Quantum (ERSFQ), Adiabatic Quantum-Flux Parametron (AQFP) logic families and Hybrid AQFP-RSFQ technology. Developing and optimization of Superconductor Cell Library across margins and Monte-Carlo process corners with statistical variations, including timing characterization and Register Transfer Level (RTL) modeling. Development and simulation of behavioral and timing models of Superconductor digital circuits for logical and timing verification using Hardware Descriptive Languages such as Verilog, Verilog-A, System Verilog. Design of spice schematics, physical layout and extraction of digital circuits using industry standard tools such as Cadence, Synopsys, InductEx. Verification and validation of physical layout of Superconductor Digital Circuits such as Design Rule Checker (DRC) and Layout vs Schematic (LVS). Validating functionality, timing operation, margin analysis, and Monte-Carlo process corners with statistical variations for Superconductor Circuits using industry standard simulators such as Cadence Spectre, Synopsys Primesim and custom simulator such as Portable Superconductor Circuit Analyzer (PSCAN). Performing Static Timing Analysis of Superconductor Digital Designs for timing verification and timing back annotation across multiple process corners using Synopsys VCS tools. Responsible for developing parametric cells in Cadence Skill for cell library, facilitating power routing, signal routing using passive transmission lines which enables modular approach for layout of superconductor circuit design. Responsible for tape out of multiple chips in RSFQ, ERSFQ, AQFP and Hybrid AQFP-RSFQ logic to further the advancement of superconductor circuits. Performing Synthesis of RTL codes and automated Placement and Routing of Superconductor digital circuits using Synopsys Fusion Compiler. Validation of EDA tools being developed for superconductor technology including process design kit (PDK), verification tools such as IC Validator, and assist in the development of tools for AQFP logic. Test and evaluation of fabricated high-speed Superconductor Digital Circuits in RSFQ, ERSFQ, AQFP and, Hybrid RSFQ-AQFP logic at cryogenic temperature using helium immerse probes or cryocoolers. Develop new project ideas, write technical papers and reports, make presentations at scientific and technical meetings such as Applied Superconductivity Conference (ASC)

    Requirements: Requires a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related field with concentrated coursework in superconductor integrated circuits. Must have the following skills from academic coursework or industry: Design of Integrated Circuits in Cadence Virtuoso and Synopsys Custom Compiler. Simulating the functional behavior of Digital Integrated Circuits, its timing, operating margins using industry standard simulators including Cadence Spectre and Synopsys Primesim.
