Schumer, Clinton Secure $1.75 Million for HypresFederal dollars will help Hypres develop the world's first All Digital Transceiver Washington, DC - Senator Charles E. Schumer (NY) and Hillary Rodham Clinton (NY) announced today that Congress had given final approval for $1.75 million dollars for HYPRES Incorporated, an Elmsford-based company, to develop a digital radio frequency units for defense wireless communication systems and other critical applications. The funding, which the Senators requested, was included in the Department of Defense (DOD) FY 2004 Appropriations bill. The bill was approved by the House and Senate this week and now awaits the President's signature. "With the top-of-the-line communications technology that HYPRES
will create, we'll be able to kill two birds with one stone: give the
local economy a boost, and play a critical role in our nation's
security," Senator Schumer said. "We fought tooth and nail for
the money, and I'm happy to say it's on the way, and couldn't come at a
better time."
"As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee I am so pleased
that we were able to secure these federal dollars to help Hypres develop
the world's first All Digital Transceiver," The funding announced today will help to continue the critically-important Superconductor Micro-Electronics (SME) currently being developed in the Challenge Program-funded ONR SBIR phase III project, "The All Digital Receiver (ADR)", towards the development of an All Digital Transceiver (ADT). Continuation of this project is critical for achieving Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) program objectives. This funding will enable HYPRES to develop the world's first All Digital Transceiver, which will improve a range of defense missions including tactical radio, satellite communications, signal intelligence, electronic warfare, and radar systems. |
